Scouts is a youth programme that builds character, skills, and community spirit in young people.
Our Belief
Ahmad Ibrahim Warriors Scout Group has been active since 1967. We envision each Scout to be a gentleman clean in thought, word and deed, who strives to be a student leader and who is a cut above the rest. Our mission is to develop in young gentlemen courage, resilience, and a sense of brotherhood.
In Scouting, Scouts learn four core skills: Camping with Campfire, Hiking, Exploration and Orienteering, Knots and Pioneering, and Cooking and Outdoor Survival. This is done through the eight elements of the Scout Method: Scout Promise and Law, Learning By Doing, Personal Progression, Patrol or Team System, Adult Support, Symbolic Framework, Nature, and Community Involvement.
As individual Scouts, we work towards the Chief Scout’s Award (Scout) (formerly known as the Commissioner’s Award), which is conferred to the most outstanding and exemplary Scouts at the secondary school level, in recognition of their excellent performance and dedication to the Scout movement in terms of leadership, skills development and community service. As a unit, we have been achieving the Frank Cooper Sands Award since 2004. Through the Scouting programme, Scouts are developed into self-reliant, confident, responsible and active citizens.
Our Adventures
Scouts attend training twice a week where they experience exciting and enriching activities while learning Scouting skills such as camping, orienteering, pioneering and outdoor cooking. Physical training and team-bonding games are also conducted to improve fitness, teamwork and camaraderie. Scouts learn to set up tents and outdoor structures, navigate using maps and compasses, construct pioneering projects using wooden spars and ropes, and prepare meals using outdoor cooking methods.
Throughout the year, Scouts participate in unit and inter-patrol competitions such as Scout Lore Quest, pioneering and cooking challenges to strengthen their Scouting knowledge and skills. They also take part in area-level courses and events including the Scout Leadership Course and Founder's Day Celebration. Campfires with Scouts from other units provide opportunities to celebrate achievements and build lasting friendships.
Service to the community is an important part of Scouting. Scouts organise and participate in service-learning activities and take part in the annual Job Week, where they perform jobs such as cleaning and gardening to learn the dignity of labour, the value of honest work and the importance of helping others. Each year, the unit organises two camps, one in March and another in September. Once every two years, Scouts embark on an overseas camping trip to meet Scouts from other countries, make new friends, and learn new knowledge and skills from their counterparts.
